Thank you to everyone who nominated an indie book after my last post. I’m still looking at the recommendations.

I have enough indie sci-fi books to make a post dedicated to this topic, and funnily enough, all three of these authors are on Substack (even though I met two of them off platform).
You can check out these books on Amazon, where you can take a peek inside using Amazon’s “Read Sample” option.
Leaving reviews on Amazon, Goodreads, or social media is incredibly helpful, especially for indie authors.
Indie Author Spotlight:
The Sandcastle in the Rain by
This novel presents a complex narrative against the backdrop of high-stakes crime fighting that kept me guessing until the end. Set in a futuristic post-apocalyptic world, The Sandcastle in the Rain questions what it means to be human and how humanity looks at the past after war.
The story follows two special unit partners as they grapple to take down a criminal organization that steals and replaces people's memories while also coming to terms with their own past during and immediately after the war.
I recommend this book for people who enjoy a complex storyline and action.
Transmigrant by
Transmigrant is another sci-fi that explores similar themes of what it means to be human. Set in a future where Earth is not the only planet we call home, the story follows three main characters as they fight to reveal the truth behind the mega corporation Niruku.
A senator’s daughter, a fugitive, and a transgalactic migrant meet in a bar… Okay, this isn’t the setup for a punchline; these are the real characters you’ll be following through this story. I can’t really say much about the fugitive without giving too much away, but I was pleased to learn more about her by the end of the story that brought it all together for me.
The Maiden Voyage by
I enjoyed this play on words (or should I say names) for this book’s title. This wasn’t the “maiden” voyage I was expecting.
The Maiden Voyage features another mega corporation, but that’s not the antagonist in this story. Space package delivery specialist Derek gets more than he bargained for when he agrees to fly a special charter mission that is anything but straightforward.
Laden with humor, this is an uncomplicated story reminiscent of classic sci-fi tales of the unlikely hero seeking to rescue the damsel in distress.
P.S. Did you know you can snag a copy of Beyond the Water’s Edge for free on Smashwords during the month of July? The sequel, The Water Between Us, is also on sale for 75% off.
Janine Eaby is the author of Beyond the Water’s Edge—a fantasy book series influenced by her faith, love of nature, and desire for adventure. Ideal for fans of portal fantasies to other worlds like in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
Really glad you liked my story. My daughter and I have an ongoing debate about whose story it is. Always an interesting discussion.
I'm always so grateful that you like my book and deem it worthy of being mentioned. Thank you! 😊
